Phil’s first taste of the stage was in school production of The Mikado. He enjoyed it so much that further roles in plays followed. However the love of singing took him into variety shows in Surrey and it wasn’t until moving to Seaton in 1987 with his family that his stage career took off as well. Since then he has been kept very busy with musical roles varying from light opera with the Axe Vale Amateur Operatic Society, including his favourite The Mikado many times, to all the popular musicals with the Testudo Musical Players where he often has the leading role. He has played a huge variety of parts in plays for Seaton Drama Group since joining in 1989 and has also directed for them. Being a very practical person he has become the main set builder and designer for the group so has a major hand in all the productions whether on stage or behind the scenes. Since 2000 he has been the treasurer for the Drama Group. |
